Speaker Bio

Alex Hinchliffe is a Threat Intelligence Analyst based in EMEA working in the Unit 42 research team within Palo Alto Networks. His main responsibilities include research into threat actors and groups to understand their attacks, motivations, tactics and resources; and dissemination of information to the public to improve security awareness and protect users. He started researching malware in the late 90s having started an internship at the then Dr Solomon's Anti-Virus company. Since then his research has focused mainly on Windows and Android malware speaking quite frequently on these and other topics. Working for Intel Security in the past Alex also co-created the industry's first Anti-Malware cloud reputation system, Artemis, to detect threats more rapidly combatting the huge growth in malicious applications.
