General Tan Sri Dato’ Sri (Dr.) Haji Zulkifeli bin Mohd Zin is currently the Chairman of the Board of Directors of CyberSecurity Malaysia. He has more than 44 years of experience in the field of defence and military services and held various important positions in the Malaysian Armed Forces. Previously, he was the first Director General of National Security at the National Security Council. Prior leading to the National Security Council, he was the 18th Chief of Defence Force of the Malaysian Armed Forces (MAF) until relinquishing the appointment on 14 June 2017 after an illustrious career spanning 44 years with the Malaysian Armed Forces.
General Tan Sri Dato’ Sri (Dr.) Haji Zulkifeli graduated from the prestigious Royal Thai Army Command and General Staff College in Thailand in 1992, in which he was inducted into their International Hall of Fame in 2011. In augmenting his incomparable military knowledge, he obtained his Master’s degree in National Resource Strategy from National Defence University (NDU) in Washington DC, USA in 2001. He was inducted into the NDU International Hall of Fame in 2011. As a testimony of his towering competence, he was conferred the honourary Doctorate in Management from University Tun Abdul Razak (UNITAR) in 2013.
General Tan Sri Dato’ Sri (Dr.) Haji Zulkifeli has displayed a strong inclination in a number of quasi-military areas such as military diplomacy and Civil-Military Affairs. He is a well-respected figure amongst national security communities globally and members of the Higher Defence Organisations from within and beyond the region. His ability to build bridges in forging strategic collaborations is well known and respected. On the same score, he was instrumental in the conduct of the National Blue Ocean Strategy (NBOS) especially projects involving the Malaysian Armed Forces. His zeal and enthusiasm in effectuating the various programs has been acknowledge by Professor Chan Kim, the creator of the Blue Ocean Strategy.
Apart from an illustrious career as a military officer, General Tan Sri Dato’ Sri (Dr.) Haji Zulkifeli is also acknowledged as a seasoned and prolific speaker in a number of issues. He has constantly been invited to present his views in prestigious forums within and beyond the country such as the Shangri La Dialogue in Singapore and Xiangshan Forum in Beijing. In recognition of his illustrious and selfless service to King and country, General Tan Sri Dato’ Sri (Dr.) Haji Zulkifeli has been bestowed with numerous awards from within and beyond the country. Most notable decorations are the Commander of the Most Distinguished Order of the Defender of the Realm from Malaysia bearing the of “Tan Sri”, Brunei’s The Most Glorious Order of King Abdulaziz Al Saud (Excellent Grade),Thailand’s Knight Grand Cross (First Class) of the Most Noble Order of the Crown of Thailand, Pakistan’s Nishan-i-Imtiaz, Singapore’s Distinguished Service Order, United Arab Emirate’s Order of Emirates (First Class), Philippines’ Legion of Honour and Indonesia’s Yudha Dharma Utama Star.
