Dr Jones has more than 20 years’ experience of providing technology-enabled solutions to a wide-range of cyber and data-intensive problems faced by government and commercial organisations. This includes delivery of cyber security assessments during the early days of the internet, through to the delivery of high-speed network traffic processing solutions, very large data analytics solutions and to the current need for advanced security operations centres, combined with threat intelligence capabilities, to protect organisations from cyber attack.
In his career at BAE Systems Applied Intelligence, Nefyn has held a number of high profile roles. These include his current role as lead for strategic cyber security engagements in the Middle East and AsiaPacific. Previously he was the Account Director for the company’s work at Her Majesty’s Revenue and Customs where he led on the delivery of secure risk-based targeting solutions for the purpose of investigating tax evasion and related crime. He was also Delivery Director for the company’s work in the Utilities domain. During his early career at BAE Systems Applied Intelligence he spent his time building electronic circuits for real-time systems before turning his attention to data fusion and cyber security in the enterprise IT domain.
Prior to working for BAE Systems Applied Intelligence, Nefyn worked for Zeneca Pharmaceuticals and British Steel where he focused on the application of new control and monitoring technologies for improving operational performance.
Nefyn has a MEng in Electrical and Electronic Engineering and a PhD in Control Engineering from Imperial College during which time he won a number of academic awards.
