Mr. Mohamed M. K. Elhaj

ITU-T SG17 Vice-chair, Sudan

Mr. Elhaj holds BSc and MSc degrees in Computer Engineering from Near East University (Turkey) and now he is doing a Ph.D in Electrical and Electronic Department; in Network Security field at the Sudan University of Science and Technology.

Mr. Elhaj is now working for the National Telecommunications Corporation, the Telecommunication Regulatory Authority body, as Director of International Relations Department, he is also Deputy Director of Sudan Computer Emergency Response Team (Sudan-CERT). He involves in many Standardization activities in Sudan and Africa. He is also responsible for many national and regional projects concerning Security like Sudan Internet Exchange Point project, National Sudanese Information Infrastructure Protection Project and National Web Filtering Project. Mr. Elhaj is member of a number of high level committees such as Sudanese Security Standardization Committee, Sudan CERT higher Committee and COMESA Advisory Group.

Last year Mr. Elhaj has created with Sudan CERT team a CIRT Model for developing countries which being confirmed and adopted by COMESA management authority. Recently he initiated an African Cybersecurity Expert Group which is now managed and sponsored by Africa CERT.

Mr. Elhaj was elected as a Vice-chairman for the ITU-T Study Group 17 at the World Telecommunications Standardization Assembly (WTSA-08) that was held in Johannesburg South Africa in October 2008, he is also a Mentor for developing countries and Rapporture of Question 1/17.
