DATO' Ts. DR HAJI AMIRUDIN ABDUL WAHAB FASc (“Dato’ Ts. Dr. Amir”) is the Chief Executive Officer of CyberSecurity Malaysia - a cybersecurity specialist and technical agency that monitors e-sovereignty of the country. He has more than 30 years of ICT working experience in the telecom and IT sector in both public as well as private sectors.

Dato’ Ts. Dr. Amir holds a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) from School of Information Technology & Electrical Engineering (ITEE), University of Queensland, Australia; Master’s in Business Administration (MBA) University of Duqubue, Iowa, USA; Master’s in information technology, National University of Malaysia (UKM) and a Bachelor of Science Engineering in Electrical Engineering from University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, USA.

Under his leadership in CyberSecurity Malaysia, Dato’ Ts. Dr. Amir contributed to the Malaysia’s achievement in attaining top 10 world ranking at the International Telecom Union (ITU) Global Cyber Security Index Studies. CyberSecurity Malaysia was awarded ‘Best Cyber Security Innovation Award’ 2015 by FireEye Global; conferred a ‘Winner of World Summit of the Information Society (WSIS) Prizes’ 2020 and won ‘Champion Prizes’ for two consecutive years in 2016 and 2017.

Dato’ Ts. Dr. Amir became the first Malaysian to chair World Trustmark Alliance (2014 - 2015); received Outstanding Chief Information/Security Officer at the 10th ASEAN CIO| CSO Summit and Awards 2014 in Vietnam bestowed Distinguished Alumni Award Winner 2021 by Australian Alumni Awards. On 28 June 2022, Dato’ Ts. Dr Amir was conferred 2022 World Digital Economy Distinguished Leader Award by the KSI Strategic Institute for Asia Pacific. Recently, in 22 Oct 2022, Dato Dr Amir who is also the Patron for Crypto Valley Malaysia (CVM) and Special Advisor to Malaysia Industry Forward Association (MIFA) has been awarded The Blockchain Icon of the Year 2022. On 5 November 2022, he was awarded the Honorary Doctorate in Information Technology (Cybersecurity) from Universiti Teknikal Malaysia Melaka (UTeM) in which it included his contributions to set up Joint UTeM-CyberSecurity Malaysia Malware Research Centre Lab in Melaka dan various cybersecurity capacity building programs such as UTeM Cybersecurity Centre of Excellence, Cybersecurity Malaysia Postgraduate Programs with UTeM and Global Accredited Cybersecurity Education (Global ACE) Scheme with partipations of UTeM.

Dato’ Ts. Dr. Amir also spearheaded various international cybersecurity platforms such as the Permanent Secretariat to the Organization of Islamic Conference - Computer Emergency Response Team (OIC- CERT) since 2013; Co-chair the Cybersecurity Working Group for Council for Security Cooperation in the Asia Pacific (CSCAP) since 2015; Deputy Chair to Asia Pacific Computer Emergency Response Team (AP-CERT) for 2015 - 2019 and currently Chair to AP-CERT since 2019 till now. He also listed as Members of 4th Experts Committee of APEC-e-Commerce Business Alliance (ECBA).

Dato’ Ts. Dr. Amir was the Chairman of National ICT Standard Committee (ISCG) from March 2010 till 2022; Board Member of Technology Park Malaysia (TPM) IT Sdn Bhd since 2016; Agensi Kaunseling & Pengurusan Kredit (AKPK) Board of Director and Member of AKPK Audit Committee since 2020; Fellow at Malaysian Institute of Management (MIM) and Fellow of Academy of Sciences Malaysia; Member of the Consultative Council on Foreign Policy of Ministry of Foreign Affairs from 2021-2022.

Dato’ Ts. Dr. Amir is an Adjunct Professor at various institutions of higher learning in Malaysia, namely the International Islamic University of Malaysia (UIAM), Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM), Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM), University Teknologi Malaysia (UTM), Universiti Teknologi Petronas (UTP), Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM), University Poly-Tech Malaysia (UPTM), UNITAR International University (UNITAR), Swinburne University of Technology Sarawak and hold Professorial Chair of Cybersecurity, Faculty of Computing and Digital Technology, HELP University since January 2022.

Dato’ Ts. Dr. Amir had built a strong reputation for developing effective, unique strategies, incubating new models and designs and maintains a well-deserved national and international reputation where he had been invited as keynote speakers and panellist in various local and international conferences.
