Dr. Saleh Al Hashmi

Assistant Director General for Cyber Security Operations, and Director of infrastructure security at Oman National CERT, MTCIT

Saleh Al Hashmi has over 20 years of experience in ICT and cybersecurity. Throughout his career, he has demonstrated excellent leadership and management skills, problem-solving abilities, strategic thinking, and attention to detail. He is adaptable and flexible, with a strong ability to build relationships and collaborate with other business stakeholders to ensure cybersecurity is in place. He has also actively participated in numerous cybersecurity committees for vital national projects, reviewing, recommending, and approving cybersecurity solutions.
During his career, he held the following positions:

  • GPRS & GSM Engineer, Omantel, 01/2004 - 11/2006
  • GPRS O&M team Lead, Omantel, 11/2006 - 4/2008
  • Head of Security Network Engineering & Architecture, ITA 04/2008 - 04/2012
  • Director of Government Security Services, ITA 04/2012 – 12/2022
  • Currently he is Acting Assistant Director General for Cyber Security Operations, and Director of infrastructure security at Oman CERT, MTCIT
He holds the following academic degrees:
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical & Electronics Engineering, Telecommunication, SQU, 2003
  • Master of Science degree in Information Management and Security, the UK, 2013
  • PhD in Cybersecurity and artificial intelligence, the UK, 2024
